Titles, headings and the words that matter
Every important page needs a unique title tag and H1 that name the topic plainly. "Emergency Plumber in Leeds" beats "Welcome to Our Friendly Team". Use one H1, logical H2 subheadings, and include the service and area where it reads naturally, not stuffed into every line.
Meta descriptions do not directly change rankings, but they affect clicks. Write a honest summary of what the page offers in under 155 characters. If Google rewrites it, that is fine; starting with something useful still helps.
Content that matches search intent
Google ranks pages that satisfy the reason behind the search. A service page should explain what the service is, who it is for, how it works, what areas you cover and how to get in touch. Thin pages with a paragraph and a phone number rarely compete.
Add FAQs where they reflect real customer questions. Short, direct answers help both readers and search features. Avoid copying text from other sites or repeating the same block on every location page with only the town name swapped.
Internal links, URLs and images
Link between related service and location pages so Google and visitors can navigate logically. Use readable URLs like /boiler-installation/ rather than random strings. Each image needs descriptive alt text where it adds meaning, not keyword stuffing.
Check that important pages are reachable within a few clicks from the homepage and main navigation. Orphan pages with no internal links struggle to rank because Google may never treat them as central to your site.
What to check after you publish
Submit new or updated URLs in Google Search Console and confirm they are indexed without errors. Test mobile readability and load speed on the pages you expect to rank. Revisit titles and content when you add services or areas.
