1. The profile setup is wrong for a mobile cleaner
Cleaners usually travel to clients. Google treats that as a service-area business: address hidden, service areas declared accurately, one listing per genuine business. Showing a home address when you should hide it, claiming a whole county you barely cover, or running duplicate listings that split reviews are common reasons profiles get filtered or fail to compete.
If you are not sure which setup you have, compare your listing to how Google shows other service-area trades in your town, then correct categories and coverage before chasing anything else.
2. Categories and services do not match the search
Primary category is the strongest relevance lever on the profile. Secondary categories and a properly filled services section tell Google you do weekly cleans, end of tenancy, commercial contracts or specialist jobs. Empty or vague services leave you competing with a handicap against listings that spell those jobs out.
3. Reviews are few, old, or say nothing useful
Prominence on Maps leans heavily on review quantity, recency and content. Competitors with a steady stream of area-specific reviews will sit above a cleaner with a handful of undated five-star lines. Ask every happy client, reply to every review, and never buy or incentivise them.
4. Name, address and phone disagree across the web
Directories still matter as trust signals. An old phone number on Yell, a trading name that does not match Google, or a postcode variant that differs from your profile makes Google less certain who you are. Pick one canonical NAP (name, address or service area, phone) and align the major UK directories to it.
5. The website does not support the searches you want
A single thin homepage cannot rank for domestic, end of tenancy and office cleaning equally well. Separate pages with real local detail help organic results and give the profile somewhere authoritative to point. If your site is slow on mobile or hard to contact, rankings that do arrive still fail to convert.
6. You are measuring from the wrong place
Map rankings change street by street. Checking only from your own desk can make you look stronger or weaker than customers a few miles away. Track positions from several points across your patch, and watch profile calls and direction requests so you know whether rankings are producing work.
Azizi Technologies can run a free ranking audit that maps these issues against your actual competitors in each town, so you know what to fix first rather than guessing.
